Our Vicar, The Rev. José Luis.
Father José Luis Aranda is originally from Spain. His pronouns are he, his, and him, él -in Spanish. He has been blessed with working and living experiences in Spain, the UK and Japan. He moved to Canada in 2011.
José Luis, a cradle Christian, has been on a journey of discernment over several years, finding his home in the Anglican Church of Canada, where he was ordained a deacon in 2021 and a priest in 2022. He completed his discernment to the priesthood in Vancouver at St. James’s Anglican church and served for two years as a curate at St. Paul’s Anglican church.
José Luis has master’s degrees in teaching, Theology and Counselling. His background is in Teaching, Languages, Employment Counselling and Counselling. He currently shares his vocation to the priesthood at Holy Cross with his work as a teacher.
José Luis is a BC-certified teacher, a Career Development Practitioner, a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and a Registered Clinical Counsellor. His work experience is primarily in teaching and the social services sector. He has extensive exposure working with newcomers, queer, and vulnerable populations.
José Luis has a Humanistic approach to Teaching, Counselling and Ministering. He is an active listener and accompanies people on their journeys. Most importantly, he believes in God’s all-powerful and transformative love and his incredible gift of inclusion and acceptance, where everyone is welcome, no matter what.

El Padre José Luis nació en España. Se siente bendecido por haber vivido y trabajado en España, el Reino Unido y en Japón. Ahora vive en Canadá desde el año 2011.
José Luis, cristiano de toda la vida, ha estado embarcado en un viaje de discernimiento que le ha llevado a encontrar su hogar en la iglesia anglicana de Canadá, donde fue ordenado diácono en el 2021 y sacerdote en el 2022. Completó su discernimiento para el sacerdocio en Vancouver, en la iglesia anglicana de St. James´ y ha servido como diácono y sacerdote por dos años en la iglesia anglicana de St. Paul ´s.
José Luis tiene maestrías en Pedagogía, Teología y Counselling. Su experiencia laboral gira en torno a la docencia, lenguas, Counselling de empleo y Counselling. Actualmente comparte su vocación sacerdotal sirviendo en la iglesia anglicana de Holy Cross con su trabajo como docente.
José Luis está certificado como profesor en British Columbia, y también como orientador laboral y counsellor. Ha trabajado principalmente como docente y en el sector de los servicios sociales con recién llegados, queer y con poblaciones vulnerables.
José Luis tiene una aproximación humanística a la docencia, al counselling y a su ministerio sacerdotal. Le gusta escuchar y acompañar a las personas en su camino. Lo más importante es que cree en el amor todopoderoso y transformativo de Dios y en su maravilloso regalo de inclusión en el que todo el mundo es bienvenido sin importar nada.
